Original Items: Only One Lot of 8 Available. The uniform and equipment used by American soldiers during the Great War was unique to the early 20th Century and also adapted to the rapid changes required by modern warfare at that time.

This Lot Includes The Following:

- “Meat Can” Pouch: This detachable pouch is designed to hold the mess tin (aka "meat can") on the Army and Marine Corps Haversacks which is actually still attached with a Messkit.

- M1910 Dismounted Rifle Cartridge Belt: Belts, such as this, made before 1917 had a retaining strap in each pocket to hold one of the two 5 round stripper clips. Belts that were manufactured from 1917-1918 eliminated the straps to cut costs and simplify production. The mounted version of the M1910 belt was similar to the M1909 Cavalry belt in that it had four revolver ammunition clip pockets.

- M1910 Haversack: Standard issue pack designed at the turn of the century and used by all US Army and Marine Corps infantrymen throughout WWI and WWII as the M1928.

- M1910 Canteen Set With Pouch: The set is in wonderful but field worn condition.

- M1910 “T-Handle” Entrenching Tool: The Model 1910 entrenching tool or shovel was carried on the soldier's back under the meat can and cover and on top of the haversack and pack carrier. Initially called a "shovel," it was soon officially designated an "entrenching tool," which was shortened to "e-tool."

- M1910 Shelter Half: A shelter-half is a simple kind of partial tent designed to provide temporary shelter and concealment when combined with one or more sections. Two sheets of canvas or a similar material (the halves) are fastened together with snaps, straps or buttons to form a larger surface. The shelter-half is then erected using poles, ropes, pegs, and whatever tools are on hand, forming an inverted V structure. Small tents like these are often called pup tents in American English.

A wonderful assortment of original, unmodified pieces of American WWI kit. All items are offered in good, solid condition but are not without stianing and evident signs of service wear.

Comes more than ready for further research and display.
